My favorite piece that I'll have for sale at the Rock Show this weekend. If it doesn't sell I'll probably put it up on eBay . . .

The leaves are done with Rhodonite and Rose Quartz, with charms hung occaisionally, some hearts, some having words of wisdom like "love much" and "be yourself". The tree itself is silver wire, I'm afraid I can't remember what the base is, I always call it quartz as well, but I know it's not.

You are correct on the base. I like it a lot, but when I was a kid I went to a few rock shows where they sold dolomite flowers as "Rose Quartz" so my mind always goes back to that. I know it's not what they are but it's always the first thought and it screws me up. I'm glad you like it though. I've found many nice charms to try some other colors/themes. But I've been busy so it's gathering dust right now.

wow, you think that at a rock show they would properly identify stones...but knowing the shows I have been to most vendors are annoyingly clueless!

I hope to see some of your trees when you arent too busy to create them, the charm idea is just so unique ^_^

Some vendors are crazy . . . I do enjoy the shows though, especially when I need bases for my trees, they cost an arm and a leg on the 'net. *grumbles*

There are two shows near me a year, one my grandparents used to run and I demonstrate at now. I got into gems and rocks through my grandparents, they used to own a traveling rock shop as well, specializing in custom jewelry and geodes.

A traveling rock shop :jawdrop: that is the most amazing thing ever! my mom and grandmother were the ones who got me into rocks as well ^_^

I used to enjoy the shows...but the last one I went to was ghastly!

My last one was bad, not because of the vendors and stuff, more because of bad timing, we had it in June at a place that got rented out for graduations too, so the parking got filled up with those blokes and our attendence was down. ^_^ It'll be better next year!

This is really cute! I like it. :) What type and gauge wire did you use?
Reply
:iconwerewolfling:
26 gauge jewelry wire, I first learned on 24 gauge craft wire, but I can get jewelry wire in more colors. Downside is it isn't quite as strong. I over-twisted quite a few branches before I got used to the softer wire.
